AFTERCARE

Remember, while your artist will provide you with instructions, tattoo care is your responsibility and yours alone. In order for your tattoo to remain beautiful, clear, and vibrant, you need to properly care for it throughout your entire life. Any type of tattoo work opens up the skin and compromises its ability to fight off infections. Open wounds, which is essentially what tattoos are when you first get them, can let in dangerous germs and bacteria. Proper aftercare will ensure that the skin in and around your tattooed area will stay free of infection and create an environment that encourages efficient healing. But even after your tattoo is healed there are things you can do to keep it looking as fresh and vibrant as the day you got it. As you age, too. And just as you have fought off dangerous bacteria from invading your newly tattooed area, you will now have to fight off the many environmental factors that can affect the way your tattoo ages with time.

WITH Second skin

  • Leave the second skin on for 4 days. IF the second skin comes off before then, it is no problem, just proceed with the following steps.
  • Peel off saniderm in the shower, under warm water
  • Gently wash the tattoo with unscented soap and gently remove any excess blood that has dried on it.
  • Gently pat the tattoo dry after it is cleaned with a clean paper towel. Make sure you do not rub, but only pat.
  • Apply a thin layer of unscented lotion to the area AFTER 4 days.
  • Make sure you wash your hands carefully and thoroughly before attending your tattoo.
  • Repeat the process until you are fully healed. A fully healed tattoo will no longer scab and peel. It is recommended that you keep regularly cleansing the tattoo for 2 to 4 weeks until you see that it is completely healed.
  • Do not pick or peel at any of the scabs. Removing the scab may cause loss of ink and possible infections.
